Based from what I have read, Art and crafts is actually an international design movement. At first I thought it was just a topic or lesson in a book. Anyway, it originated from England and flourished during the late 19th century.

The main purpose of the movement is to revive handicrafts with the use of self capabilities and traditional craftsmanship, meaning it is anti-industrial. The architecture of this sought harmony by connecting to the natural and man made environment. Arts and crafts had a big impact for artist and designers which rekindled their artistry and creativity in them. It revived their attitude and techniques in making things from the medieval past. Arts and crafts was not just only a style but it was a philosophy.
