Bauhaus - HSTARC2

Bauhouse, I mean, Bauhaus is a school in Germany that combined crafts and fine arts. In German, Bauhaus means “house for building”.

Bauhaus, Germany

Bauhaus was founded by Walter Gropius in 1919. The institute would later teach the philosophy that “the design should be functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. Bauhaus did not immediately had architecture but it was still the category for the total work of art in their principle. So in the long run, it was included and be brought together. The school had constantly had a change of venue and leadership which caused in constant change of focus, principle, techniques and even instructors. Bauhaus was quite influential in modern architecture and modernist

The Bauhaus architecture is a mix of cubism, cube in shape, and modernism. It aimed and made the house in those who prefer minimalism as well as function and style. The saying “less is more is also applied here. The flat sides with smooth facades and flat roofs are clearly seen in the architecture and typical color such as black, grey or white are used. The design is intertwined with the function of the structure. Floor plans are often open with the functional furniture to all to it. I think the style also employed the want to use the classical forms without any ornamentation on it.

I like the idea and concepts of Bauhaus since it shows simplicity with beauty and with it comes function. It is very practical and functional at the same time.
